Enya, Marble Halls — Lyrics

English Lyrics

I dreamt I dwelt in marble halls
with vassals and serfs at my side,
and of all who assembled within those walls
that I was the hope and the pride.
I had riches all too great to count
and a high ancestral name.
But I also dreamt which pleased me most
that you loved me still the same,
that you loved me
you loved me still the same,
that you loved me
you loved me still the same.

I dreamt that suitors sought my hand,
that knights upon bended knee
and with vows no maiden's heart could withstand,
they pledged their faith to me.
And I dreamt that one of that noble host
came forth my hand to claim.
But I also dreamt which charmed me most
that you loved me still the same
that you loved me
you loved me still the same,
that you loved me
you loved me still the same.

Enya Book of Days

Enya Book of Days

This page is about Enya Book of Days song; includes Enya Book of Days lyrics, Enya Book of Days music video, the appearance of Enya Book of Days in album and single, also related link to Enya Discography.

About — Enya, Book of Days

The original Gaelic Book of Days appeared on the Shepherd Moons album, but was replaced on subsequent singles, compilations, and album pressings from mid-1992 onwards with a re-recording using an English lyric. This English-Gaelic re-recording was first used in the Far and Away film soundtrack. There are three slightly different introductions for this new track. All three vary until the bell sound, which is the beginning of sixteen rapid cello beats before the main vocal begins: 1) the movie version played at the start of the film credits begins with sixteen rapid cello beats like the ones played after the bell; 2) the version used in the Far and Away soundtrack CD has a slightly longer piano introduction along with an accompanying vocalization; and 3) the version which replaced the original Gaelic album track has the same piano introduction but no vocalization. The track time for the Gaelic version is 2:34, and the English-Gaelic is 2:56. See the Shepherd Moons album notes for more information on identifying the different releases. Later, this song also included in the album The Very Best of Enya released on 23 November 2009.

Enya, Book of Days — Lyrics

English-Gaelic LyricsOriginal Gaelic Lyric

One day, one night, one moment,
My dreams could be, tomorrow.
One step, one fall, one falter,
East or west, over earth or by ocean.
One way to be my journey,
This way could be my book of days.

Ó lá go lá, mo thuras,
An bealach fada romham.
Ó oíche go hoíche, mo thuras,
Na scéalta nach mbeidh a choích.

No day, no night, no moment,
Can hold me back from trying.
I'll fly, I'll fall, I'll falter,
I'll find my day may be,
Far and away,
Far and away.

One day, one night, one moment,
With a dream to believe in.
One step, one fall, one falter,
Found a new earth across a wide ocean.
This way became my journey,
This day ends together,
Far and away.

This day ends together,
Far and away.
Far and away.

Ó oíche go hoíche, mo thuras,
An bealach fada romham.
Ó lá go lá, mo thuras,
na scéalta na mbeidh a choích.

Translation
From day to day, my journey,
The long pilgrimage before me.
From night to night, my journey,
The stories that will never be again.
